Survivor Story from the Field

A young adult was referred to the Open Doors Outreach Network after being suspected they might be a victim of sex trafficking. A Survivor-Mentor met with this young adult, who began to identify their partner as a trafficker. While their relationship started as any other, over time he became more dangerous, growing physically abusive while committing other unspeakable crimes.

Fearing for the victim’s safety, the Survivor-Mentor helped make contact with local domestic violence shelters. The Survivor Mentor, having a close relationship with local law enforcement, tipped them off about the trafficker who had an outstanding warrant and he was captured through a sting arrest.

Feeling much more secure and safe, the young adult has continued to receive care from the Open Doors Outreach Network. This encouragement helped them land employment and a new place to live. The young adult is continuing to walk the path to well-being, with the support of the Open Doors Outreach Network behind them.
