Collaborative and Practical Solutions

Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) is the non-punitive, non-adversarial, trauma-informed model of care for children. Developed by Dr. Ross Greene, CPS model is recognized as an empirically-supported, evidence-based treatment by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC). The model is based on the idea that challenging behavior in children occurs when expectations being placed upon them exceeds their capacity to respond adaptively. A collaborative partnership between adults and children allows the children themselves to engage in finding solutions to the problems within their lives, resulting in decreased likelihood of conflict, enhanced relationships and improved communication.
